I am finishing my third year of graduate school. One aspect of my work is focused on the mechanism by which the Gli transcription factors, downstream of Shh signaling, orchestrate anterior-posterior patterning of the murine limb. A second major focus of my thesis addresses a more basic question in evolution and development, which is, to what extent are the functions of Gli proteins conserved between vertebrates?
